The following is a nice e-mail I received from Breanne after working her mare at the Mane Event Expo. Willow came to her through the Columbia Basin Rescue and had been a former performance horse that had won money in barrel racing. She also displayed aggressive behavior when handling her on the ground and a bit of bucking under saddle. What caught my attention was that she reportedly put four different women in the hospital from bites to their faces. I worked Willow for an hour and fifteen minutes. I conveyed to the audience that I felt she was in fact a dangerous mare to be working with and had the opportunity to point out many facets of working with an aggressive horse in the round pen. I was pleased with her progress but told Breanne that I did not feel this was a safe product after an hour or so worth of work. We discussed a plan to continue on with Willow and this is the e-mail I received the day after she took her home.
"Thank you so much Susan for working with my mare Willow at the Mane Event. She was so easy to handle
afterwards, and even loaded right up in quicker time then friday morning. She is no longer pushing into me,
or running me over. This morning I put her in the round pen and worked her for about a half hour and had her
completly responding to everything I asked of her. She not once pinned her ears, flexed her neck, nor gave
me the ‘hard eye’. I tried to push her buttons, but she did not seem to be bothered. I was able
to saddle her, and unsaddle her repeatedly with her standing still with no halter on. She not once left me
nor made an iniative to move away from me. I do not know what has come over her, but she seems to be a whole
lot more responsive. I want to say thank you, my father was almost going to sell her away with a no hope
imprinted in his mind. But with your clinic and time you spent with her, he has been convinced to let me keep
her and see her through her training.
Thank you!
Willow even thanks you!"

Over the years people have written to John Lyons to express their satisfaction with their clinic, training or instruction experiences having worked with me. I have selected and included some of these to share with you.
Tevela´ (before) rescued from a herd of 130 horses that were starving and badly neglected in Brothers, Oregon
Tevela´ (after)
"I bought Tevela´ at the Deschutes County Sheriffs rescue adoption auction on March 1,2003.
She was a mess physically and mentally.
Under Susan’s care I watched my psychotic horse become calmer, loose the head shyness, and become much less spooky.
At the end of the two months I had a horse that I could ride. We still have a long way to go but Susan taught Tevela´
softness and how to trust more. I have new skills to ride with; I can disengage the hip and get her to stop more easily
than any green broke horse I have ever ridden. I thought it would take years to develop the softness and responsiveness
that my mare already has. Another positive outcome I have already seen is that she has not tried to pull back once.
She use to panic when tied solid, as a result of all the training she has not panicked since.
I am looking forward to better weather so I can return for lessons. Susan has done a great job with a horse that otherwise
might not have had a future." ...read more

"Five years ago Susan Arndt helped me with a problem horse. I learned that there is a lot more to horsemanship than
canter pirouettes and flying lead changes. I still have this horse and we are much better partners thanks to the time we

"Susan’s calm, quiet confidence, her ability to explain and consistently demonstrate why a horse acted the way it did,
all made sense. Susan had the tools and skills needed to turn things around for Dannie and her horse.
After three sessions with Susan, the change has been dramatic. Dannie has gone from being intimidated to handling her mare
with confidence. The mare has gone from being unhappy and irritable to friendly and
willing" ...read more
